Exterior building glazing exposed server rooms to outside prying eyes. Redesigned interior ‘open office’ layout created a ‘fishbowl effect’ that was distracting for workers.

The Solution

WFD installed multiple FASARA frosted opaque samples for management review. Each 3M glass film let in a varying amount of visible light allowing for proper daylighting into the space in line with the wellness intent of the environmental design team.

Worker’s report that the ‘open’ office space maintained its allure yet the frosted privacy film provided just enough vision control encouraging focused work. Server rooms now protected from exterior viewing while natural light fills the space entirely.

Evolved security threats created a new problem for the executive offices designed with floor to ceiling glass.

Each BulletShield polycarbonate panel was over 200 pounds and required precise installation fit into the existing glazing frames.

The Solution

WFD recommended Level 3 BulletShield retrofit panels in order to reinforce the existing glass with a thick and clear layer of ballistic protection.

A custom made BulletShield solution was installed successfully on the existing curtainwall glass and provides the protection requested while blending seamlessly into the building aesthetic.

The Challenge

The natural light filled Coke Museum in Atlanta created a situation where excessive UV exposure on precious items required a sun screen for the massive curtainwall of glass.

The 20K square feet of 3M film was installed after hours and required the use of a ‘spider lift’ to access the upper rows of the atrium glass.

The Solution

WFD recommended and installed a clear 3M film that blocks 99% of the sun’s UV radiation without blocking visible light or creating a distorted look to the glass.

The Coke Museum continues to enjoy impressive amounts of natural light that is now sanitized of UV rays ensuring that iconic displays will remain fresh and damage free for years to come.

The Challenge

The new museum at Fenway Park is home to some of the greatest artifacts in baseball history. The natural light filled space created a problem of UV exposure on precious items and the concern of premature fading was significant.

The clear film from 3M was installed on the glass cases after the memorabilia was already being showcased causing a significant challenge to our capable installers of not damaging any of the priceless items during the application process.

WFD recommended and installed 3M’s clear 99% UV shield on all the exterior glass and the glass memorabilia cases throughout the baseball shrine.

The Result

3M’s UV film is 100% optically clear leaving the glass cases pristine in appearance. The concern of premature sun damage has been alleviated for ownership.

The Challenge

The Oculus transit hub is the latest ‘must see’ New York City landmark. Tens of thousands of visitors & commuters pass through Oculus on a daily basis creating the need to protect the glass rail from premature damage.

Entry doors & passageways received clear film from 3M on both sides of the interior glass ensuring the primary surface remains damage-free for years to come.

The Solution

WFD recommended and installed 3M’s AG 6 mil clear surface protection film design for high traffic glass.

The Result

Designed as a semi-permanent solution for scratched glass mitigation, this film guarantees the MTA will be able to maintain the glass at Oculus to the highest standards without having to go through expensive glass replacement costs.

Location: Newport Beach, Ca.

The Challenge

High energy costs due to excessive heat gain plagued this Southern California office building. Access to the interior windows proved impossible requiring an exterior installation to solve the solar heat gain issue.

The installation required boom lifts to access the building glass. Once filmed, the film edges received a bead of silicone caulking to ensure a longer lifespan for the retrofit.

The Solution

Window Film Depot recommended and installed an exterior weatherable high density silver window film for maximum solar performance.

Duration:  Eighteen days

The Result

The E-film building modeling program estimates the retrofit will save building owners over $19K per year in AC related cooling costs. Increased interior comfort levels have improved employee moral and the views to the Pacific Ocean have never looked so good.

Location: Warwick, RI

The Challenge

Sun glare streaming into the mall through the various skylight systems created a problem for vendors and shoppers alike in the mezzanine causing headaches for property management.

WFD installers worked closely with mall management to create access to the glass from the exterior of the building while ensuring safety for visitors directly under the skylight structures.

The Solution

Exterior mounted solar film from 3M with specified edge caulking to provide protection from harsh climate and sun exposure.

Duration: Two weeks

The Result

3M film now rejects 80% of the sun glare and heat gain transferring through the laminated overhead glass creating a more comfortable environment for all shoppers and store owners alike.

The Challenge

Lacking natural shade, this modern beach home suffered from extensive heat gain and glare during summer months. Maintaining the amazing view of the bay was critical to the owners.

The new construction double-paned windows received a full seal failure and glass breakage insurance policy from 3M after installation.

The Solution

WFD recommended and installed 3M’s NV 25% solar, IR and UV control window film on over 700 sf of LOW E glass.

This solar film from 3M blocks over 40% of the glare and heat while providing for soft natural light to continue to illuminate the space safely.
